RHYTHM & BURNS BLURB

Rhythm & Burns
I have never ever before been so self-assured on the release of a new  CD. There really IS something special going on here in my humble opinion. I am always proud of my releases but on reflection, there are definitely some hit closer to my target than others. Certainly the general public let you know  if you’ve got it right or wrong. Just like any other release, I expect this one to have some criticism as well as praise. So far, the praise has been overwhelming. I’m not usuallysmug but, on this occasion I believe we deserve the accolades. We worked, with pleasure, hard and long to achieve this recording. It does what we wanted.

It was a culmination of at least a couple of ideas. Back in 2008, Dr. Fred Freeman, probably best known for his work on The Complete Songs of Robert Burns, came to me to discuss a desire to record a CD which was mainly percussive and vocal. Well, I’d been dabbling with that kind of thing already and was well up for it. Then, we threw into the mix that The Scottish Homecoming was upon us in 2009 which was planned to coincide with the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth. Most folks who’d been at all involved with Burns’ material would have to do something for this important occasion.I’d already had my share of recognition in this field. My contributions to Dr. Fred’s 13 CD set were getting me so much praise that we’d picked them off to compile my previous Burns’ Album, ”Alloway Tales” on Linn Records.
